What I've been reading
The Smithsonian tripping over its own racism at the Museum of African Art. Fun interview with Aidy Bryant. Leftist gun clubs.
I have a lot going on at the moment, so just a sampling of delectables for your reading pleasure this holiday weekend as you commemorate your war dead and the war dead of the general American project. (Meaning: Memorial Day.)
I found this interview with the outgoing director of the Smithsonian Museum of African Art, Ngaire Blankenberg, to be fascinating. We’re not in postcolonialism yet, is what I got from this. Still very much colonialism over here in the Global North.
Armed resistance to fascism will be a thing as long as there are fascists, and in the gun-happy USA it should not be surprising that we have leftist gun clubs. What’s their endgame? The article sorta dodges that. (But a lot of them also provide mutual aid, which I endorse.)
Aidy Bryant is a performer and writer that I like. Here she discusses her exit from SNL.
