What I've been reading
Just a few delicious links for your weekend!
The smoke of Canada’s logged and burning forests clogged the skies of the Eastern US this week. Delivery workers, who had to risk their lungs bringing lunch to New Yorkers working indoors, found a way to help one another through it — no thanks to mayor Eric Adams, who supports the delivery apps that would prefer their delivery workers be silent about their suffering (and not to have to pay them anything).
A fun, longer piece from February about the incredibly well paid consulting firms that companies hire to advise them, but who actually don’t have expertise in much of anything.
Farm apprentices are a thing, but how well are they paid? Not nearly well enough, it turns out. Certainly nowhere near what the building trades apprentices get. I wonder why that is? (Spoiler: Unions. It’s because the building trades apprentices have unions.)
Cheers, and enjoy your (hopefully less smokey) weekend!
XO,
Mariya
