This was me, on Saturday, in Baltimore. The weather was muggy but not too hot, and everyone from Hinenu (the Justice Shul) had a blast, even though we had to wait like an hour and a half for our section of marchers to begin. My kiddo and boyfriend came along for the march, and we passed out Jewish flyers and carried signs and rolled a giant blue Evil Eye beach ball for the watchful protection of queer and trans folx. Hundreds and hundreds of people came out to the parade, stood and cheered us on as we marched for liberation. I love to be reminded of how important it is to put my body in the streets alongside my community and those who are in the struggle with me. There is really nothing like it to remind us: We live in the world NOW. Let’s make it the world we want to live in.
